Prior to founding The Lafayette Company, Ellen Carmichael served as a senior communications strategist for several campaigns and Members of Congress in both official and political capacities. Former principals include a front-running Republican presidential candidate, several Members of Congress, legislators, large political non-profits and numerous statewide elected officials.
In recognition for her professional achievements, Carmichael was named a member of CNN’s 2011 “New Guard,” a distinction awarded to a handful of top newsmakers each year. In 2014, Red Alert Politics named her one of the top “30 Under 30” professionals in the political industry.

A proud Louisianian, Carmichael graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Mass Communication: Political Communication. She and her husband, Walter, live in New Orleans, where she attends St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church and serves as the Public Relations Committee chairwoman of the Junior League of New Orleans.
